Calcium and Magnesium Test
 
1. Take 2.0 g of an air-dry soil sample and place in a 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask.
2. Add 20 mL of Ammonium Acetate solution and shake for 5 minutes on a reciprocating shaker at 180 oscilations per minute.
3. Filter the solution through a filter paper (number 42) into the filtration vials.
4.
Take 0.5 mL of Ammonium Acetate extract with Eppendorf pipette and transfer it into a beaker.
5. Add 10 mL of Strontium Chloride solution and mix.
6. Read the standard solutions and the samples using an atomic absorption machine.
