Repair Fence in Pratt Hollow Cemetery
|
| |
|
A portion of fence in the Hillcrest/Spring Cemetery was refurbished by
students at Morrisville State College. On September 11, 2001, students in the
AGEN 240 advanced welding classes repaired a portion of a chain-link fence
and three gates which have deteriorated in the 88-year old cemetery
located on Cramer Road in Pratts Hollow. More than twenty students
participated in this project.
The advanced welding course requires students to complete various
welding projects in class. The course is taught by Jim Taylor who is
an Instructional Support Associate in the Agricultural Engineering
Department. Taylor stated that this project is important for two
reasons. "It not only provides our students with valuable
hands-on experience, but also helps our community". He added
that this is the first time his class has participated in a classroom
project for the community. Students generally bring in their own
projects to repair or make repairs on campus.
