Horticulture Plant Identification

 
Contest Description and Objectives:

Students will identify horticulture plants include landscape plants, house plants, cut flowers and greens.

 

Pre-Contest Preparation

Students should review the plant list. Visit a local garden center, florist and/or greenhouse to review plants. Review books with color photographs of plants.

 

Team Composition

2 students per team and a maximum of 3 teams per school.

 

Contest Rules

1. The contest will include 25 plants selected from the Floriculture Plant Identification List used for the State competition.

2. The contestants will be required to identify the specimens from the plant list and will enter the number of the plant on the answer sheet.

 

Contest Location and Starting Time(s)

Spader Horticultural Center any time between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.

 

Prizes:

High Team - Certificate
High Individual - Certificate and Scholarship
Second High Individual - Certificate
