Hello, my name is Linda F. Turner. Thank-you for your interest in the Accounting, Business and Office (ABO) Technology department at Morrisville State College. I am a professor of Business Administration in the ABO Technology Department and have been involved in higher education in a number of capacities for approximately 17 years with significant teaching experience in the accounting/business administration field(s). I have taught a wide range of college- level accounting/business administration courses.
Students enrolled in Business Administration programs will have numerous opportunities to engage in curricula designed to assist students towards developing their career plans.
“Self improvement plans stress improvement rather than awards and recognition” (M2Presswire, 2003.p.1)
In an article titled Creating and implementing a reality-based career plan authors Broscio & Scherer state “a career plan is critical to building long-term professional success. A career plan must be based on reality and must be updated regularly to account for changes in personal needs and the market place” (2003, abstract).
The authors identify three important steps crucial to effective career planning. These steps are: 1) understanding your reality; 2) analyzing overlaps and gaps in that reality; and 3) developing a written plan based on that analysis. Failure to write out such a plan, in light of the changing dynamics of the market environment will result in not getting what you want out of your career.
Let us be a part of your first steps towards fulfilling your career plans.

The Student—Academic Asset/Human Capital—takes precedence of all! I believe in providing the highest quality of a learning environment such that learners can attain comprehensive knowledge of key concepts and theories defined by scholars and developed by other professionals. My perspective of learning at the higher educational level is that research and analysis through integrative processes will prepare learners for successful decision-making throughout their educational pursuit and in practical and work-related situations. I maintain that case-study analyses, relevant experiential exercises, cooperative and team-oriented project, and direct work experience of knowledge/skill base significantly assist learners in interpreting theories and models, in addition to providing in-depth mechanisms for application to prospective or current areas of work. I want learners to have a desire to attain higher levels of learning and to be inspired by instruction and facilitation that encourage critical thinking—which I strive to sustain—such that they lead others and assist them in exploiting tacit knowledge. I work to provide personalized instruction for each individual, as required, to ensure increased creative approaches and improved capabilities in applying learning objectives.

I teach Business Law in the Business Administration program and other related
business programs. Prior to joining the faculty I worked as Director of Finance
and Budget Analyst for a Syracuse not-for-profit social service agency. Before
that, I resided in Florida for over 20 years where I had a small law practice
concentrating in small business. I also taught Business Law and Paralegal
Studies at Keiser College, a two-year tech college in Florida.
I realize that the study of law can be quite a formidable task and try to complement my lectures with relevant examples and humor. I also try to structure my lectures not only with a view toward business law, but also with a view toward general legal principles that will be important in all aspects of life.
