Staff and Organizational Development. Named to Who's Who Among America's
Teachers. Sarah Margaret Gillam, RIT Outstanding Alumni Award, Honorary
Doctorate in Foodservice, from The National Association of Food
Equipment Manufacturers. Abe Hoag award from The International Food
Service Executives Association.
MY COMMITMENT: is to excellence in teaching. My classes include technological applications and the most current information. I care about my students and maintain high academic standards. CLASSES I TEACH: Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Tourism Planning and Development, Leadership Issues in the Hospitality Industry*, Food Purchasing and Cost Control*, Food Service Equipment Selection, Layout and Design*, Meeting and Convention Services*, Tourism Agency Operations, Contemporary Issues in Human Resource Management*, and Senior Seminar, (* National Certification Courses). CLUBS: Faculty advisor for Morrisville State College's Student Branch of the International Food Service Executives Association. This club is the most active club on campus and won eight international awards at the International Student Leadership conference last year. CORPORATE INVOLVEMENT: President, Madison County Tourism, Inc. The designated tourism promotion agency for the county, representing over three hundred area businesses. WORK EXPERIENCE: Have worked in restaurants, hotels, contract and college food service and tourism marketing/promotion. Also served as academic dean and college level teaching. As a teacher, I am a member of my students' team. I enjoy my students and my work. I am an avid Buffalo Bills fan and love to be outdoors, where I enjoy swimming, boating and gardening. Another hobby of mine is cooking and entertaining at my home. My greatest joy comes from seeing my students succeed! |
