Individual Studies 

The Individual Studies program is a unique independent program of study for students who know what they want! It is the program of choice for students who know where they want their first two years to take them.

Beginning in fall 2005, the Individual Studies Program will be a ThinkPad University program in which the use of laptops is integrated into the students’ chosen path of study.

Individual Studies Degrees

Like most other associate degrees at Morrisville, a student will need to complete 64 credits of course work and maintain a minimum of a 2.0 or “C” average. Students may choose from the following degree types:

• Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.)
• Associate in Arts (A.A.)
• Associate in Science (A.S.)

Who Participates in Individual Studies?

Students Who Are Creative

Example: One student decided to put together a unique program in zoo animal handling. Courses came from across several curricula including Horse Nutrition (the closest course to feeding camels), Zoology, Wildlife Management, and more.

Students Who Want a Particular Major Not Offered at Morrisville

Example: A student wanted to spend his first two years at Morrisville before transferring to a baccalaureate degree program to major in pharmacology. The student checked the transfer college’s program of study for the first two years, and duplicated those two years at Morrisville in preparation for transfer.

Students Who Want Specific Skills For Job Opportunities Or Promotion

Example: A student needed an associate degree for promotion at work. The student designed her own course of study which concentrated on the skills necessary for the job she was aiming for.
