Morrisville State College, part of the State University of New York, seeks an experienced academic librarian for the position of Director of Libraries for both the Morrisville main campus and the Norwich branch. Seeking an individual who has the vision, passion and skills to develop/lead a 21st century library, and the ability and experience to manage the sundry of daily library activities. Responsible for the overall leadership, vision, administration, operation and development of the libraries, including personnel, budgets, planning and assessment of library resources and services. The successful candidate will have thorough understanding of library trends and technologies and the initiative and commitment to effectively assess and apply them.
Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university required. Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience, with progressive responsibility (3 years relevant management and supervisory experience), preferably in higher education with demonstrated ability to be visionary yet practical. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and history of strategic thinking with effective change management skills desired. Ability to lead in a collaborative environment and commitment to shared decision-making. Demonstrated organization, analytical, and project management skills with creative, responsible and cost effective budgeting skills. Strong commitment to the needs of students, faculty and staff.
Full time, 12 month appointment. Excellent fringe benefits. Occasional evening and/or weekend work required.
