Title: Director of Syracuse EOC

The Director is responsible for all aspects of operations at the Center including instruction, student support services, facility management, personnel, and fiscal affairs. The Director reports to the President of (SUNY) Morrisville State College or his/her designee. The Director collaborates with the (SUNY) University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD), Morrisville State College, and the directors of other EOC’s statewide. He/she maintains external relationships with the Center’s advisory board, civic and business organizations, governmental agencies, corporate entities and community-based organizations, to promote and advance the services provided by the Center. Specific responsibilities include: • Supervise all functions and activities of the Center including Academic and Business Affairs and Student Personnel Services. • Establish long-and short-term goals in a strategic plan for the Center that are consistent with the guidelines and the objectives and goals of the UCAWD. • Develop policies relating to the operation of the Center. • Prepare and administer the Center’s budget; adhere to all applicable laws, rules and regulations. • Direct and supervise the recruitment, selection, and recommendation of all faculty and staff members in accordance with established College and University policies and procedures. • Make recommendations with regard to the appointment, promotion, dismissal, salary and other personnel matters related to Center staff. • Review and evaluate curricula and programs offered by the Center. • Direct and supervise institution-wide strategic planning, job market research studies, and the implementation and evaluation of grants. • Develop favorable and cooperative relationships between the center and public, private and non-profit organizations including professional organizations and agencies. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in an appropriate field and minimum of five years in an educational setting required. Doctorate degree and eight years in educational setting serving high-need, culturally diverse populations preferred. Relevant business experiences desirable. The successful candidate will have knowledge of educational practice and workforce preparation, as well as administrative supervision, program development and evaluation, and knowledge of local and State-wide business and industry priorities.
12 month professional obligation. The Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center of the State University of New York is an adult educational facility designed to produce lifelong learners who are self-directed, empowered and committed to self-reliance. These goals are accomplished through relevant courses of instruction, counseling, employment and educational placement, and through programs of community service.
