Why did you choose to attend Morrisville?
“I chose Morrisville State College because it was the only institution in the area that offered the degree I was looking for. Not only did it have the program I wanted, but it also made it very easy for me to take care of my dad who had fallen ill. I was able to work full-time because I could take a lot of my classes online.”

How did your education at Morrisville get you to where you are today?
“If it wasn’t for Morrisville State College I would have never found my job at North Country Eye. I was offered a position after I completed my internship experience there. I don’t think I would have ever gotten the internship if it wasn’t for the portfolio I was required to make in my final semester of college. The portfolio showcased all the skills I had learned during my time at MSC. I owe a lot of credit to Morrisville State College for the education I have received and the job that I am now doing.”

What do you like about your profession?
“I like being able to constantly learn something new in the medical field every day as well as being able to communicate on a personal level with patients. It is very enjoyable to have flexible hours as well. It’s nice to feel accomplished at the end of the work day and see that people appreciate all the hard work you do.”

What professor and/or staff member influenced you?
“I cannot thank enough or give enough credit to Professor Payette. I would have never been able to accomplish everything without her help, support and great words of wisdom. I also owe a lot of credit to Professor Doyle. Not only was she a great teacher, but she worked very hard to make sure I had all the credits I needed as well as helped me contact teachers to get my schedule set up so I was able to work full time, care for my dad and graduate a semester early.”

What was Morrisville like when you were attending?
“I had transferred from a community college where I felt like nobody cared or was willing to help me to a college where I felt that I was home with family and friends. Morrisville State College welcomed me with open arms and always made me feel like I wasn’t just another student. There was not one professor or staff member who did not open their arms to help with any situations that may have come about.”

What is your favorite memory of Morrisville?
“One of my favorite memories at Morrisville State College was receiving my award for making Dean’s List. I have many great memories of hanging out with my friends and fellow classmates at Mustang Alley as well.”

What advice would you give current students?
“My advice to any student that is thinking about furthering their education at Morrisville State College is no dream, thought or education is too far out of your reach. Set your goals as high as you can because Morrisville State College will do everything in their power to give you the tools, guides and education you need to accomplish those goals. For all Medical Office majors: don’t stress about the online classes. It may sound scary at first, but I promise Professor Payette and Professor Doyle will never let you fail and only let you succeed. Work hard on your portfolio because that will help you find your internship and land a job in the medical field. Enjoy every day at Morrisville State College because each semesters seems to go by faster and faster every year and next thing you know you are walking across stage wishing you were just starting out!”
