Name: Dana Maythenyi
Hometown: Fallsburg, New York
Major: Renewable Resources
Graduation Year: 2013
“ I chose Morrisville because they offered my major and I had heard many great things about the Nursing Program. Students who graduate from the program go right to work after graduating, and that was another thing I was looking to do. ”
What activities have you been involved with on and off campus?
“ My on-campus activities include participation in the Morrisville State Girls Varsity Volleyball team, as well as intramural volleyball in the spring. I am an active member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and I also work in the Admissions Office as a campus tour guide. Off campus, I volunteer for various community projects and work at my local equine rescue shelter. ”
What "fun fact" can you tell us about Morrisville that is not well known?
“ The Morrisville State girls volleyball team won first place in our league and made it to the conference title championships in the fall 2009 season. Good Job Lady Mustangs! ”
What MSC professor has influenced you and why?
“ Professor Croot, associate professor of biology, has been my greatest influence. She encourages her students to work hard and makes learning fun and interesting. She relays the information to us in a way that we can understand and she is always more than willing to help students both in and out of the classroom. She has inspired me to push myself farther than just my comfort zone, helping me to become a better student. Thanks Professor Croot! ”
What has been your favorite campus event or activity?
“ I am really into athletics, especially volleyball. For me, playing a sport is a must. It especially helps me to take my mind off of school for a while, and just play. Plus, it keeps me in shape and full of energy. Of course, I can't forget to mention the oxygen bar and free massages in STUAC during finals week...what a relief! ”
