During you visit
- Visit the library: look at its accessibility, size, comfort, equipment, room for group study sessions, noise level, etc.
- Visit the dorms: look at their condition, what furniture is included and what do students need to supply, bathrooms, common rooms, kitchens, etc.
- Visit the athletic fields, gyms, locker rooms, note type of equipment, etc. Check if all students have access to athletic facilities during certain times
- Look in classrooms and labs if possible, especially computer labs and note what type of computers they have- PCs or Macs, laptops, etc.
- Walk through the Counseling Center, Career Center, Student Learning Center, etc.
- Find the particular area on campus that is important for your special major, eg. dance studios, theater, music rooms, art studios, science labs, radio station, etc.
- Eat lunch in the student union or cafeteria and listen to what campus issues students are talking about.
- Read bulletin boards to get a sense of what's happening on campus.
- Get a sense of the atmosphere on-campus - does it seem laid-back or intellectual, friendly or snobbish? Notice how students are dressed - conservative, preppy, ultra-casual, etc.
- Walk around the town /or local community. Note stores, restaurants, prices for merchandise, etc.
- Make note of public transportation that is available to get students without cars to outlying community areas.
