FINDING YOUR CAREER DIRECTION

The first step to career success is determining what you are good at, what interests you, and what motivates you, known as self-assessment.  Meet with Career Services to learn how to use the following tools, or to determine if Focus 2 or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a better choice.  Call 315.64.6615 to schedule an appointment.

EXPLORING JOBS AND CAREER FIELDS

The next step in defining your ideal career is to learn as much as you can about your targeted job(s) and career field(s) to make sure they are the match you anticipate. You also need to determine what skills, experience, and knowledge you need to gain in and out of the classroom to successfully pursue your goals.  Our Job, Career Field, and Industry Research handout details the information you should gather in your exploration.

For the most complete picture of a future career path, use multiple, informed sources. The following websites are helpful starting places; you then can confirm what you find by speaking with individuals working in your fields of interest such as alumni, guest speakers in our Networking and Recruitment Series program, friends of the Morrisville community, and professionals on LinkedIn.
