You Haven't Made Any Decision About Your Major or College
- You need to start making some plans as soon as possible to avoid taking unnecessary or nontransferable courses. While there are some classes that are generally thought of as "safe" transfer classes, every college has the right to decide on each class for their particular institution.
- Speak to a counselor or advisor before you register for your first semester classes or as soon as you know you want to transfer. The advisor can help you pick basic general education classes such as English composition, laboratory science, history, speech communication, psychology, sociology, political science, etc.
- Contact the Counseling Center or Career Education Center at your home campus for assistance with career planning. Your career choice helps you to determine the best major for you to reach your goals. You can also find help in exploring majors and careers on-line.
- Start checking out college exploration/planning resources that take you through a list of variables to help you get a profile of what you want you want in a transfer college. The Library has many of these resources (books, magazines, computer programs, websites, etc. to assist you.
