Additional services available:
- Career exploration
- Placement in a short-term certificate program
- Financial assistance available for educational needs such as tuition, uniforms, textbooks, etc.
- A paid work experience with an employer in the community:
- A paid work experience typically runs four to eight weeks in duration. This varies due to wages and number of hours worked.
- The employer will be reimbursed for employee wages for an agreed upon time period. The employer will have the individual on the payroll and will invoice the Bridge program for reimbursement of wages after the paid work experience.
- The employer determines the number of days, hours per day, and wage for the paid work experience. However, Bridge will negotiate with the employer based on what the Bridge program can afford to reimburse.
- Employers get the opportunity to see the prospective employee performing their job duties. Similarly, the prospective employee gets the chance to “try out” the job. The hope is that the individual stays with the employer after the work experience ends.
- Bridge will provide case management services to assist the individual with overcoming any barriers that may affect employment. The employer needs to communicate any problems to the Bridge Employment and Career Counselor so that the issues can be addressed before they result in termination.
