MORRISVILLE, NY—Faculty, staff and New York State University Police at Morrisville State are reaching out today to assist the Smithfield community that was ravaged last night by a severe storm that claimed at least four lives and whose heavy winds toppled trees and wreaked widespread damage in the small, rural town.

Members of the college’s New York State University Police, under the direction of Chief Enrico D’Alessandro, are among emergency crews involved in recovery and clean-up efforts today.

Additionally, the college’s dining service, run by the Morrisville College Auxiliary (MAC), sent food in support of the more than 100 emergency responders estimated at the site this afternoon. → Read more
