Morrisville State nets 4-3 win on road at New England

HENNIKER, NH – Morrisville State College junior defenseman Tom Longland (Dunnville, ONT) gathered a rebound in front of net and fired the game winner past the Pilgrims netminder to give the Mustangs a 4-3 non-conference win on the road at New England College Tuesday night in Henniker, New Hampshire.

Playing to a scoreless first period, New England put the first score of the night on the board 2:23 into the second, before Morrisville State’s Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) responded less than a minute later with a Mustang score.

The Pilgrims jumped out to a 3-1 lead after tallying two goals within a four minute span, but Taylor Vince (Barrie, ONT) added a second Mustang score to cut the lead to one with 9:29 remaining in the period.

In the third, Cass pulled the Mustangs even with an unassisted score just 5:05 in before Longland tallied the game winner just over a minute later.

Morrisville netminder Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) turned away 28 to record the win in net, including 17 in the final period, boosting the Mustangs to 8-6-1 overall.

Aaron Harvey had 32 saves in the loss for New England, as the Pilgrims drop to 5-8-2 overall.
