Hanks, Relkoff named co-Mustang Athletes of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletic department has named men’s basketball freshman guard, Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, NY) and hockey’s senior goaltender, Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC) the co-Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 13.

Hanks assisted the men to a 2-0 week, including an upset of top conference ranked Wells College on Wednesday. Over the course of the week, Hanks averaged 13.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists for the Mustangs, while shooting 83 percent from the floor, 100 percent (4-of-4) from behind the arc. He posted a collegiate best 17 points and seven assists in the win over Cazenovia and shot perfect from the floor, hitting all six shots, including four three’s in the second half.

The individual studies major at Morrisville State is a 2010 graduate of Henninger High. He is the son of Ethel and Shawn Hanks of Syracuse.

Relkoff posted his second career shut out Friday, making 25 stops to secure the 4-0 conference victory over Cortland and on Saturday, turned away 37 in the 5-2 upset over #1 nationally ranked SUNY Oswego. On the week he tallied 62 saves in 64 shots faced for a .969 save percentage, improving his record in net to 9-10-1, and the Mustangs to an 11-10-1 record, 8-5-1 in SUNYAC play, a program best.

The human performance and health promotion major at Morrisville State has received numerous academic accolades, including SUNYAC Commissioner’s List and All-Academic Team honors, and is also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. Relkoff is the son of Anne Robertson and Ken Relkoff of Grand Forks, British Columbia.
