Hartnett leads Morrisville State women to 11-8 come-from-behind victory over Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team posted a come-from-behind conference victory Saturday afternoon, netting the 11-8 win over Medaille College in Buffalo.

The win boosts the Mustangs to a 3-4 overall record, 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) – West Division action. Medaille dropped to 2-4 overall, 1-3 in conference play.

Medaille had a 5-1 advantage midway through the first period, before Morrisville State rattled off three straight to cut the lead to one a the break.

In the second, Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, NY) posted two scores within 17 seconds to give Morrisville State their first led of the contest, adding three additional goals down the stretch en route to the Mustangs win.

Hartnett finished with six goals on the day, while Alison Falkenburgh (Blue Point, NY) had two goals and an assist in the win. Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, NY) also added two, while Cassie Edmondson (Oshawa, ONT) rounded out Mustang scoring with one. Jessica Young (Clifton Springs, NY) had two assists.

Allison Strub (Midlakes, NY) made nine saves in the win for the Mustangs, seven in the first half.

Marilyn Meyer tallied three goals to lead Medaille in the loss, while teammate Taylor Hackford added two and assisted two others.

Chris Balestracci posted 13 saves.

Morrisville State returns to the field Sunday, hosting Wilson College at 1 p.m.

Beginning with the 2010 season, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) members
Cazenovia, College of St. Elizabeth, Keuka, Medaille, Penn State - Abington, SUNY Morrisville, Wells, and Wilson will play as associate members of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in a West Division. Each division will hold a championship and the two divisional champions will meet to determine the conference champion.
