Morrisville State College offers free workshops

MORRISVILLE, NY – August 11, 2005 - Morrisville State College is offering free workshops that focus on attaining goals, career exploration and self-improvement.

The free, three-hour workshops, which will be held at Morrisville’s Norwich campus, are:

• Got Goals?
• Got the Right Stuff?
• Identifying Our Family Patterns: Handing Down the Best Values and Leaving Behind the Rest
• Living Beyond Loss: Becoming Your Best Self in the Face of Change and Transition

Motivating yourself to achieve your goals is the focus of Got Goals, a workshop being offered Aug. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon. In this workshop, participants will learn how to write formal goals, how to create a map for future success and how to develop a positive attitude.

Got the Right Stuff offers skills that will be helpful in today’s job market such as critical thinking, team building and communication skills. Participants will also learn to develop social skills within the workplace. The class meets Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Identifying Our Family Patterns: Handing Down the Best Values and Leaving Behind the Rest meets Sept. 23 from
9 a.m. to noon. In this workshop, family patterns of behavior, child rearing and values transmission will be discussed, as well as how to sort patterns families should and shouldn’t pass on to children.

Participants in the Living Beyond Loss: Becoming Your Best Self in the Face of Change and Transition workshop will explore how to cope with loss, change and transition in their lives. The course meets Sept. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Registration is required for each of these free workshops which will be held at Morrisville State College’s Norwich Campus, Follett Hall, 20 Conkey Ave., Norwich, N.Y.

Morrisville State College also offers a variety of other non-credit courses, for a fee, including several dental classes, CPR, Introduction to Photoshop, Promoting Your Business or Event, and Child Abuse Training. Tuition is waived for Morrisville State College alumni.

Registration for non-credit courses is currently under way. Space is limited and advance registration is recommended.
