Former Mustangs join Morrisville State College football staff

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.¬ – Morrisville State College head football coach, Terry Dow, announced the addition of two former Mustang student-athletes, Nate Conte and Chad Rowe, to his coaching staff in 2006.

Nate Conte joins the Mustang staff as coach of the running backs. In 2005 he served as a student assistant for the offensive side of the ball at Morrisville. Conte played two seasons under Dow as an offensive guard from 2003-2004. He is the first former Mustang player to join the coaching staff at Morrisville State.

A 2003 graduate of Herkimer High School, Conte was an all-Center State Conference team selection as an offensive tackle. In 2002 his team was the CSC League Class C - East Champions. He is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree at Morrisville State.

Chad Rowe begins his first season on the football staff as the outside linebackers coach. A 2003 graduate of Morrisville State College, Rowe spent two seasons playing for the Mustangs as an inside linebacker where he earned Northeast Football Conference first team honors in 2002. That same season, the Mustangs went 9-2, claiming the college’s second conference and first regional championship title in the history of the program, recording the most wins in a single season. Rowe was instrumental to the defensive unit that remained at the top spot in the conference, recording 99 total tackles, earning his place in Mustang history as the fourth leading defensive player in a single season.

Rowe concluded his collegiate play at Morrisville, earning NFC all-Conference first team honors and NJCAA All-America second team - defense honors. In 2003 he joined the roster at SUNY Cortland as a linebacker and led the team in total tackles his junior season with 87 in ten games for the Red Dragons. That same year he was named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference second team at linebacker. Rowe earned his bachelors of science degree in physical education from Cortland in May.

Beginning in the fall of 2006, Morrisville State will enter its first year as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ® (NCAA), Division III. The Mustangs open their season on the road at Buffalo State College on September 2nd before returning home on the 9th to face Cortland State.
