MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletics department has named Jordan Prior (Cortland, N.Y.) and Michael Markowitz (Staten Island, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 27.

Prior paced the men’s basketball team to a 2-0 record last week, posting a season best 26 points in the 71-58 victory over Wells. In the contest he hit a near perfect 8-of-11 shots from the floor, including 6-of-7 from long range, while converting all four attempts at the free throw line. On the night he added six rebounds and two assists in just 28 minutes of play. Prior followed with an eight point, six assist performance against Cazenovia on Saturday.

The junior guard currently ranks second overall in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (48.9), but leads the category when facing conference opponents (59.1%).

Prior is a graduate of Cortland High School and is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Purdy and Eric Prior of Cortland.

Markowitz tallied a weekend best three goals and an assist in two conference wins. In the 3-1 victory over Buffalo State, he posted the first two tallies, including the game winner, and followed with a one goal, one assist performance against Fredonia the following night. Markowitz’s goal against the Blue Devils came at 18:25 in the third, and proved to be the winning tally for the second time in as many nights.

To date on the season, the forward has tallied seven scores and assisted three others for 10 points, ranking fifth on the team in scoring.

The freshman is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. He is the son of Michelle and Steven Markowitz of Staten Island.
