Morrisville State hockey sweeps Becker College, concludes first NCAA season with 10-13 record

MARLBORO, MA – The Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey team swept Becker College this weekend, tallying a 5-3 win on Friday night, and a 10-2 landslide decision Saturday afternoon in Marlboro, MA.

On Friday, the Mustangs trailed 2-1 heading into the third period, before Nick Carelli (Genelle, BC) netted a power play score just 50 seconds into the third, evening the contest for Morrisville State at two. Three minutes later, Matt Damskov (Spokane, WA) gave the Mustangs the 3-2 edge, before Becker tied the contest for the third time.

Brady Pratt (Bloomingdale, NY) tallied the game winning score for the Mustangs at 16:05 before Damskov put the game away with 37 seconds remaining on an empty net tally.

Cody Williams (Faribault, MN) recorded the win in net, saving 34.

On Saturday, the Mustangs netted seven scores in the final period, skating away with a 10-2 landslide decision, concluding their inaugural NCAA season with a 10-13 overall record.

Morrisville State tallied seven goals on nine power play opportunities in the contest, connecting on six advantages in the third period alone.

Damskov netted two goals and an assist to lead the Mustangs while other Morrisville State goal tallies came from Pratt, Carelli, Tyler Fulton (Highland, TX), Evan Kernohan (Minden, ONT), Joe Herman (Congers, NY), Steve Niederbuhl (Bloomingdale, NY), Esteban Gonzalez (Little Falls, MN) and Joakim Cedin (Spanga, Sweden). Defenseman Sam Forget (Saint-Eustache, PQ) tallied five assists in the season finale for the Mustangs.

Brett Freese (Geneseo, NY) tallied the win in goal for the Mustangs, saving 24.
