Morrisville State women win on road at Wells, 14-4

AURORA, N.Y.¬ – The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team picked up a win Sunday afternoon, topping Wells College 14-4 in Aurora.

Freshman Hailey Spencer (Fulton, NY) paced the Mustangs with four goals and two assists, leading Morrisville State to a 10-0 halftime lead with three scores and two assists in the first half.

Morrisville State’s Jamie Collins (Baldwinsville, NY) added three scores and an assist as Kayla Miller (Johnstown, NY) tallied four points off two goals and two assists.

Carmen Velazquez (Syracuse, NY), Jennifer Caffarelli (Phillipsburg, NJ) and Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY) rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs.

Smith recorded three saves and the win in net for Morrisville State (4-9), splitting time with Caffarelli, who tallied five saves in the second half of contest.

Claire Petersen led Wells on the afternoon with two scores. Allie Inga saved six in goal for the Express (2-13).

Morrisville State returns to the field on Tuesday against Cazenovia College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Lemery Field on the Morrisville campus.
