Morrisville State women laxers conclude season with landslide win over Keuka

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.¬ – The Morrisville State College women’s lacrosse team concluded their inaugural NCAA season with a 17-4 landslide win over Keuka College Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville.

Hailey Spencer (Fulton, NY) got Morrisville State on the board early in the contest, netting a free position goal just three minutes into the contest. Seconds later Jennifer Caffarelli (Philipsburg, NJ) connected with Spencer for her second of four scores on the afternoon.

Morrisville State rallied to a 9-2 halftime lead.

Spencer led the Mustangs with four goals and three assists. Caffarelli rallied for four scores and dished out two assists while Carmen Velazquez (Syracuse, NY) netted five goals. Senior Jamie Collins (Baldwinsville, NY) added three goals and two assists while senior LaChic Foster (Brockton, MA) completed her career with a score.

Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY) tallied 13 saves in net for the win, as Morrisville State concludes their season with a 6-9 overall record.

Bridget Quinlan and Kristin Booth each led Keuka Storm with one goal and one assist each.

Kristi Chamberlain tallied nine saves in the loss for Keuka, who ends their season with a 3-8 record.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
