Norwich Campus of Morrisville State College Offers New Criminal Justice Degree Program

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.—A new criminal justice degree program is being offered at the Norwich Campus of Morrisville State College.

The A.A.S. program, which was recently approved by the State Department of Education, is designed for students seeking entry-level employment in the criminal justice field and for current employees interested in advancement.

Students will gain knowledge and skills in law enforcement and judicial systems, procedures, corrections, parole, probation, and criminal investigation including gathering evidence, surveillance and interrogation. Graduates will be eligible for employment in a wide range of criminal justice careers including policing, corrections, security, criminal investigation, probation and parole, and related areas.

A number of criminal justice courses will also be offered as electives at the college’s main campus in Morrisville.

“This program will prepare students for a rewarding career and help meet vital employment needs in Central New York and across the state,” Norwich Campus dean, Dr. Edward C. (Ted) Nichols, said. “We are most appreciative of the support we received from the law enforcement community during program development.”

For more information about the new criminal justice program or to apply, call the Norwich Campus at 607-334-5144 or visit the college’s Web site at www.morrisville.edu.

Morrisville State College offers more than 75 bachelor and associate degrees and options with six new degrees being offered this fall: entrepreneurship and small business management, B.B.A.; nursing, B.S.; horticulture business management, B.T.; human performance and health promotion, B.S.; criminal justice, A.A.S. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.
