Morrisville State's Sgarbossa named SUNYAC Rookie of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College freshman forward, Rob Sgarbossa (Campbellville, ONT/Christ the King Catholic) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) ice hockey rookie of the week, for the week ending November 11.

Sgarbossa tallied three assists in Morrisville State’s 5-2 win over Lebanon Valley College on Friday, before tallying both goals in the 4-2 loss on Saturday against the Flying Dutchmen. He leads Morrisville State in scoring, tallying three goals and three assists to date this season.

Sgarbossa is a 2004 graduate of Christ the King Catholic School and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State. He is the son of Peter and Rose Sgarbossa of Campbellville, Ontario.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
