Mustang basketball defeats St. Josephs College 87-70 at Regis Tourney

WESTON, Mass. – The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team picked up their second win of the season, defeating St. Josephs College (Brooklyn) by a final 87-70 in the consolation round of the Regis College Tournament in Weston, Mass.

Four tallied double figures for the Mustangs led by Dodrick Spencer (Brooklyn, NY) and Wesley Jackson (Utica, NY) each with 18. Debo Olasokan (Brooklyn, NY) and Garnell Vaughan (Syracuse, NY) chipped in 11 and ten respectively. Jackson and Olasokan combined for nine assists on the afternoon.

Mike Dziewit led St. Josephs with 19 points and ten rebounds as teammate Wilkerson Exantus added ten points and 12 boards in the loss.

Morrisville State led 43-28 at the half.

Morrisville State returns to the court Tuesday at St. Josephs. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 70 bachelor and associate degrees. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine. The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus also offers programs in business, technologies, liberal arts/education transfer, and nursing to Chenango County area residents and employers.
