MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College field hockey freshman defender, Chelsea Thomas (Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) has been recently named to the 2007 ZAG/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Squad.

The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year.

Thomas, an agricultural business major at Morrisville State, started all 18 games this season at defense, excelling both on the field and in the classroom.

A 2007 graduate of Schuylerville High School, Thomas is the daughter of Brian and Jennifer Thomas of Schuylerville, New York. She is the first Morrisville State field hockey student-athlete to receive this honor. In the fall, she was named to the 2007 SUNYAC All-Academic Team.

Morrisville State enters its second year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2007. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.
