Morrisville State men's soccer picks up win

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men’s soccer picked up a non-conference win Monday afternoon, defeating Albany College of Pharmacy 3-1 in Albany.

Morrisville State first got on the scoreboard 12:54 into the contest as Andrew Brobbey (Bronx, NY) found Chris Wisdom (Brooklyn, NY) for the score. At 26:29, Jeffrey Sekyere (Bronx, NY) gave the Mustangs the two goal lead, connecting on the pass from Andrew Ketchum (Chili, NY) for the score.

In the 66th minute, Morrisville State’s Patrick Paynter (Boston, MA) extended the Mustang lead to three, netting his first collegiate score unassisted.

Albany College of Pharmacy netted their lone score of the contest with 13 minutes remaining as Kyle Caradori found Brandon Schenck who snuck one past Morrisville State keeper Eric Stein (Oswego, NY).

Stein recorded the win in net for Morrisville, saving seven, as the Mustangs improve to 3-8-2 overall and return to the field Wednesday at 4 p.m., hosting SUNY Brockport on Lemery Field.

Albany’s Al Tarquinio saved eight in the loss.

Morrisville State enters its third year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2008. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 75 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
