Hamilton tops Morrisville women 68-42

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Laura Wetmore '09 sank four three-pointers and finished with 16 points to lead Hamilton College to a 68-42 non-league win against visiting Morrisville State College in a women's basketball game played at Scott Field House on Dec. 10.

Wetmore has scored 48 points in the last two games. She has made 45 percent (19-42) of her three-point shots this season and leads the team with 15.7 points per game. She has reached double figures in all six games.

Hamilton (4-2 overall) has won three straight games and is 3-0 at home. This was the first meeting between the two teams. Morrisville (1-6) dropped its fifth straight.

Sarah Schrader '09 added 12 points, six assists and five steals for the Continentals. Sydney Fasulo '09 chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds.

Sybil Stanton '12 paced the Mustangs with 16 points, three assists and four steals. Courtney Terzi '12 scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Ebony Whitfield '11 pulled down a game-high 10 boards and blocked two shots.

Morrisville's last lead was at 6-5 on a Whitfield jumper with 16:15 left in the first half. Hamilton scored the next 15 points for a 20-6 advantage with 6:33 remaining. The Mustangs finally ended their scoreless drought on two Stanton free throws with 4:54 left before the break. The Continentals led 34-12 at the half and never trailed during the final 20 minutes. Morrisville shot just 18 percent (4-22) from the field in the first half.

The Mustangs made 1-of-16 three-point attempts. Hamilton helped force 34 Morrisville turnovers with 17 steals in the Continentals' full-court pressure.

Hamilton hosts SUNY Oswego for another non-league game on Friday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m.
