Caffarelli named ECAC 2009 Division III Upstate Women's Lacrosse All-Star

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has released its 2009 Division III Upstate Women’s Lacrosse All-Star teams, naming Morrisville State College’s senior midfielder Jennifer Caffarelli (Phillipsburg, NJ) to its first team.

Caffarelli led Morrisville State this season, netting 76 goals and assisting 10 for 86 points, leading the SUNYAC in goals scored per game (4.75) and free position goals scored per game (1.38), scoring on 22-of-53 opportunities. She ranks fourth in points scored per game (5.38) and game winning goals scored (3).

Caffarelli collected 60 ground balls this season, ranking second in the SUNYAC, added 47 draw controls and caused 20 turnovers in 16 games.

On April 6, Caffarelli was named the SUNYAC Player of the Week and followed with ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Week honors. At the conclusion of the 2009 season, Caffarelli earned All-SUNYAC team honors.

In her four year career with the Mustangs, she has played in 55 games, netted 184 goals, six game winning, assisted 38 for 222 points, picked up 152 ground balls, recorded 113 draw controls and caused 60 turnovers. Breaking five Morrisville State records alone this season, Caffarelli is the record leader for seven total categories at the college.

A 2008 selection to the SUNYAC All-Academic team in 2008, Caffarelli graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship and small business management. She is the daughter of Linda Solt of Nazareth, Pennsylvania and Michael Caffarelli of Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

Morrisville State enters its third year as a provisional member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2008. Upon successful completion of the provisional period, Morrisville State will be a candidate for full accreditation as a member of the NCAA.

Morrisville State College offers more than 75 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
