Morrisville State College Renewable Energy Training Center to Co-sponsor Advanced Solar Thermal Design Seminar

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.— Morrisville State College’s Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) is co-sponsoring a day-long seminar, Advanced Solar Thermal Design, on Oct. 23 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Mohawk Valley Community College.

The seminar, designed for anyone who has previous experience in hydronic heating systems or who has taken Introductory to Basic Solar Thermal Systems, expands on systems from domestic water heating to “combi-systems” that supply both domestic hot water and some of a building’s space heating load.

Concepts such as circulator sizing, expansion tank sizing, drain back system operation and system sensitivity to variations in design parameters will be discussed along with software packages to assist with system design.
The seminar is presented by John Siegenthaler, P.E., an expert in the field of hydronic heating technology.

Tuition for the Advanced Solar Thermal Design course is $299. Participants may obtain financial assistance for the seminar through the college’s RETC. The seminar is being co-sponsored by Mohawk Valley Community College.
