Senior Patrick Palmisano (Ann Arbor, MI/Bay State Breakers) contributed three assists, while five other players chipped in with one assist. Sophomore goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) made 27 saves.

Juniors Bobby Cass (Burlington, ON/Welland Canadiens) and Rob Sgarbossa (Campbellville, ON/Georgetown Raiders) scored one goal and had two assists each for Morrisville St. (3-4, 2-3 SUNYAC). Freshman Matt Salmon (Orillia, ON/Couchiching Terriers) added a goal and an assist and freshman Adam Laite (Port Sydney, NS/Woodstock Slammers) tallied a goal. Three players each registered an assist. Junior goalie Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, BC/Huntsville Muskota Otters) stopped 29 shots.

After a scoreless first period, the Red Dragons opened up a 4-1 lead after the second 20 minutes of play. Christiano scored on a deflection in front at 5:44 on a 2-on-1 after a Morrisville St. turnover near center ice. Cass answered on the power play with a one-timer from the left face-off circle at 7:07 to knot the game up. Cortland then closed the period with three straight goals. Lysyj knocked a rebound past Relkoff at 12:02, then Kaleta deflected sophomore Sean Streicher's (Wildwood Crest, NJ/Marian University) slap shot from the right point inside the left post at 16:57. Gold completed the run with a quick one-time shot in front off a feed from Palmisano at 18:39.

The Mustangs responded quickly in the third period, scoring twice in the first minute. Just 26 seconds in, Sgarbossa knocked in a loose puck in front and Laite deflected a shot from the left point into the upper left of the goal at 55 seconds. Salmon then tied the game at 4-4 on the power play with a deflection of Sgarbossa's shot.

Oeberg scored the game winner when he put a rebound in at 15:30 for his first goal of the season. As Morrisville St. pressed late in the game, the Mustangs drew a penalty at 18:40 before they could pull Relkoff for an extra skater. After the Mustangs were able to dump the puck in Cortland's zone, Relkoff did skate to the bench, but Palmisano set up Gold's insurance goal to clinch the win.
