Fried named Mustang "Athlete of the Week"

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College athletic department has named men’s lacrosse defenseman Jonathan Fried (Jordan, NY) the Mustang “Athlete of the Week” for the week ending March 21, 2010.

Fried was a key defensive player in keeping the Mustangs undefeated last week, as Morrisville State picked up an upset overtime victory over Alfred University and a win over Bard College.

Against Alfred, Fried collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers, while marking key attacking players. In the extra period, Morrisville State forced an Alfred turnover in which Fried chipped the ball up field to an open midfielder which in turn lead to the game winning score.

To date, the junior co-captain has recorded five ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Mustangs.
