2010 field hockey schedule released

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College Mustangs are geared up for another exciting season of field hockey, beginning preseason practice Tuesday afternoon.

Field hockey opens its 2010 season with four straight non-conference games, beginning September 1 against Gordon College. They travel to Ithaca on September 4 and Wilson on the 12th before returning home against Wells on the 15th.

The Mustangs open State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on the 17th against Cortland, vying for an appearance in the conference’s championship tournament in early November.

They are on the road September 24 at SUNY Brockport and return home the 25th to host SUNY Geneseo. The Mustangs are then on the road for four straight starting with Elmira on the 29th, before New Paltz, Vassar and Hartwick College on October 1st, 2nd and 6th.

Morrisville hosts Oneonta on the 8th and travel to Oswego the 9th before hitting the road against St. Vincent on the 15th. The Mustangs return home to host RPI on the 17th.

Morrisville State is then home for three of their final four games of the regular season, starting with Hamilton College on the 27th. They go to the University of Rochester on the 29th and conclude hosting Houghton on the 30th and Nazareth on November 3rd.

All of the Mustangs home games are played on Drake Field at the Morrisville State College stadium on the Morrisville campus. Updated schedules and scores can be found on the college’s athletic web site at http://athletics.morrisville.edu.

Morrisville State compiled an overall 5-14 record in 2009 (1-5 in SUNYAC action). A complete roster will be available later this week.

Morrisville State College offers more than 80 bachelor and associate degrees and options. Considered to be one of the most technologically advanced colleges in the nation for its ThinkPad University program and wireless technology initiative, the college recently became the first in the nation to comprehensively replace landlines in residence halls with individual cellular phones. Morrisville State College was also chosen as one of the top five colleges in the nation for campus activities by Campus Activities magazine.

The Morrisville State College Norwich Campus offers associate degree programs in accounting, business, computer systems technology, office administration, liberal arts transfer, nursing, early childhood, criminal justice and human services to south central New York residents and employers. Students may also apply coursework to other associate or bachelor degrees at the main campus.
