FAQ: Safety and Security
Can students have a vehicle on campus?
All students are allowed a vehicle on campus, as long as a parking pass is properly registered. Parking pass decals must be affixed to the rear interior door window on the driver’s side. All guests must obtain a temporary parking permit from University Police. If you have any questions on parking rules and regulations, please call (315) 684-6121.
How safe is the campus?
The mission of the New York State University Police at MSC is to provide the highest level of Law Enforcement protection to the life and property of the students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the campus. MSC is equipped with Blue Light Emergency Phones, which provide a direct/automatic link to University Police from the various phones throughout the campus grounds. In addition, students have a personal, direct link to University Police by dialing #87 or #UP on their AT&T cell phone no matter where they are on campus.
What if a campus emergency occurs?
The safety and security of the Morrisville State College community is the college's highest priority. To ensure this goal is met, the college takes a proactive approach to emergency planning so that it is prepared to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. The Emergency Response Team meets frequently throughout the year to review safety and security issues, update the college's Emergency Response Plan, and participate in tabletop exercises. The Emergency Response Team is ready to be activated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How do I get information about an on-campus emergency?
New York Alert is an instant, mass notification system that enables students, employees and parents to receive emergency notifications and updates via SMS text messaging, voice message, e-mail and/or fax. To sign up, go to Web for Students and sign in using your Morrisville ID and PIN.
This initiative is one component of the college's wide-reaching emergency communications strategy, with the goal of providing a safe and secure environment in which to work and live.
