June Message

Dear Morrisville State College Community, 

For many of us, the arrival of summer means a shift in emphasis: from the academic year to summer session, from the classroom to research, from work to vacation. I hope that you are finding time to enjoy the season!

As many of you know, I am spending part of my summer beginning the implementation of a realigned administrative structure that will enable greater shared services between Morrisville State College and SUNYIT. This was detailed in the attached memo to both campus communities on May 23, and a joint meeting of the two shared services committee was held on May 31 to continue the process. As we work toward the goal of reducing administrative costs and applying the savings in instructional areas, we have the full support of SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher and her team. All involved in this effort at both campuses deserve a vote of thanks, as institutional change doesn’t come easily.

In recent weeks, as the semester concluded, we saw a flurry of activity on campus—events honoring academic achievements, international visitors from the U.S. State Department, and a great celebration of our new graduates at commencement. A special congratulations to MSC athletics as Morrisville took home the NEAC 2011-2012 Men’s Cup for the first time. Now, with summer courses ongoing and our Summer Showcase and Orientation events coming up, it promises to be a lively time on campus. Wherever your plans take you for the next few months, enjoy—and we’ll all start the new academic year refreshed and ready for its new challenges and opportunities.
