Course Description

Abnormal Psychology

SOCS 251- Abnormal Psychology This course examines psychological disorders from a variety of perspectives. In addition to the usual survey of psychological disorders across diagnostic categories, it also considers the possible causes of psychological problems and a wide variety of therapeutic techniques used to treat them. The history and scientific underpinning of psychological diagnosis and treatment is also covered. Prerequisite: SOCS 105 or equivalent or permission 3 credits

Admissions Requirements

Students must be prepared to enter Composition and Research (ENGL 101) and Intermediate Algebra with Trigonometry (MATH 102). Students who do not demonstrate the ability to meet these minimum requirements will be required to successfully complete preparatory coursework and skill-building classes before admission to the Human Services degree program.

Once students have met admission requirements, they will be allowed to transfer into the Human Services program.
