The dairy industry is the largest of all agricultural enterprises in New York. It also ranks third in the nation in the production
of milk. Many students who choose the Animal Science - Dairy A.A.S. curriculum at Morrisville State College seek employment in the
dairy industry, work at their family farms, enter the
B.Tech. Dairy Management
program offered at Morrisville State College, or transfer to other
universities after completing their degrees.
Students enrolled in the Animal Science - Dairy A.A.S. curriculum benefit from several facilities available on campus, including
state-of-the-art dairy complex which houses more than 200 milking cows. Numerous facilities are available including a free-stall
dairy complex with an electronically enhanced milking parlor and student-managed computer system. In addition, a 200-head heifer
facility and calf greenhouses provide a tremendous learning environment for dairy students. Morrisville State College also owns
more than 500 acres of cropland to grow forages for the animals.
Admission Requirements
Freshman: Required: minimum high school average in the C to C+ range. Desired: two units each of defined math and science
and vocational agriculture.
Transfer: Students who plan to transfer to a four-year program should elect appropriate science courses such as biology
and/or chemistry, and mathematics.
