Equine Racing Management A.A.S.
The Morrisville State College Equestrian Team competes in Region II (Western) and Region III (Hunt Seat) of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). The riding team is chosen by open tryout. Students from all majors may try out for the team.
Morrisville State College offers a great variety for the person interested in developing their western riding skills. Courses range from basic horsemanship to advanced specialization in training. Students can also compete on the Intercollegiate Riding Team or join the Horse Club.
During the summer, Morrisville students may compete at local, Quarterhorse, Paint and NRHA shows. Western instructors have a wealth of experience in every phase of the horse industry and also have numerous industry contacts which assists in the job placement process.
One of the great strengths of the program is the quality of horses. The college owns and breeds Quarterhorses and Paints with strong reining and pleasure bloodlines. The resulting foals, in addition to client-owned horses, are utilized in the training and showing program. Two arenas at Morrisville State College, an 80’ X 264’ indoor arena and a 100’ x 200’ indoor arena, are reserved for students in western riding.
