Humanities & Social Science - Social Science Option A.A.

The Social Sciences - Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology - explore the human condition both in groups and among individuals. Morrisville State College offers a number of ways to answer the question, "Why do people do that?" Because there may be many reasons, there are many ways to examine the question. Each faculty member comes from a different background, and each asks the question in a different way. By taking a variety of courses in the social sciences, students learn many different ways of looking at people and the world.

The Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Science program at Morrisville State College is intended primarily for students who seek further study for completion of a bachelor of arts degree, but still want the advantages of a small faculty in a friendly college community. This degree lays the foundation for future work in history, economics, anthropology, psychology, government, and sociology. With its emphasis on global change and diversity, this program is also good preparation for the workplace.

Our degree program is intended to provide students with a broad understanding of the social sciences appropriate for transfer to four-year institutions. The program is designed for those who wish to enter such fields as education, counseling, and government services. It is also a good program of study for students who are curious about the world, its people and the organizations that define our social lives. Students may also choose the social sciences to learn more about themselves.
