"I got a ‘crash course’ in what it means to be a real journalist through Morrisville’s Journalism degree program.  I was exposed to the ins and outs of print, radio, and television with real-world, hands-on learning.  With the personal attention I received from my professors and fellow students, I graduated with the skills it took to be a success in this business.  I was challenged to dig deeper and really look at journalism as an important public service.  It’s a responsibility I take seriously.  Every day I go to work I rely on something I learned at Morrisville.  It’s an experience I’m grateful to have.  As I encounter journalists from other schools, I’m proud to let them know I am, and always will be, a Mustang."

Course Description

Ethical/Legal Issues Content

This course provides students with numerous case studies focusing on First Amendment issues, industry codes of conduct, the Federal Communications Commission, media access, copyright law, confidential sources, labor law, freedom of information, defamation of character, Internet legalities, and current industry topics in the news. Videojournalism III offers students detailed information to keep themselves and their content legal, while best trying to educate the audience they pledge to serve. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor. 3 credits (3 lectures per week) fall
