Computer-Aided Design Technology A.A.S. :: Career Opportunities
Graduates with a two-year Design and Drafting degree are immediately employable in the field of technical design. Typically, Design and Drafting graduates are placed in entry-level positions in engineering or manufacturing firms, supervised by senior engineers or designers.
A graduate's activities and responsibilities involve a number of technical operations as well as the application of procedures including product design, detailing, checking, cost estimating, and other phases of the design process. Job titles and responsibilities vary greatly as do opportunities for advancement. Promotion opportunities abound, especially when company-sponsored training and additional education are pursued.
More than half of Design and Drafting graduates continue their education and earn a baccalaureate degree in the engineering technology field. The program at Morrisville State College is transferable to four-year degrees including SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), SUNY Oswego, and many others.
