The bachelor of technology (B.Tech.) degree program in Automotive Technology at Morrisville State
College prepares students for entry into the automotive industry at the supervisory or management
level where technical knowledge of all aspects of the automotive industry is necessary. This course
of study goes beyond the technical automotive education provided by a traditional associate of applied
science degree, adding an advanced technical and business management emphasis.
Morrisville's automotive department has a reputation for outstanding faculty and modern teaching facilities.
In the Automotive Technology B.Tech. program, students receive practical laboratory experience in diagnosis of driveability problems,
auto body repair and refinishing, fuel systems, brakes, steering, suspensions, automatic transmissions
and engines. Students will take courses in traditional automotive areas and management courses such as
marketing and automotive management and supervision.
Designed to reflect the most recent advances in the industry, the curriculum prepares students
for entry into the automotive service sector.
Morrisville State College automotive faculty maintain strong ties with professional organizations,
government agencies, major automobile manufacturers, oil companies and program graduates to ensure that
the program is at the forefront of automotive industry awareness.
Admission Requirements
A high school graduate entering the Automotive Technology B.Tech. program must have a minimum high school
average of at least B- (or 80) and have completed New York State Math A and B or the equivalent. Students
must have a minimum SAT score of 450 verbal and 500 math. Vocational training is not a requirement.
Morrisville State College has a rolling admission policy; notification of acceptance begins November 1.
Transfer students must have a minimum transfer GPA of at least 2.5.
