Building application software requires working with the business users to gather and analyze requirements, design the system, write programs, and implement and maintain the application.
At Morrisville State College, students are provided with the skills they need to land one of these high-paying, high-tech jobs. Students learn how to write computer programs using software languages such as Visual Basic and Java. You will learn database development and design, systems analysis and design, microcomputer techniques, and networking and communication concepts. The IT curriculum is constantly evolving to keep pace with the changing needs of industry.
As the role of technology continues to expand, application software development will continue to be a key success factor for all organizations, and there continues to be a high demand for application software developers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, projected employment growth in these high-tech occupations will average 117 percent between 1998 and 2008. The projected growth, for several occupations, exceeds 200 percent.
