Most of the Chemistry lectures and all of the Chemistry labs are taught in Crawford Hallallowing any chemical demonstrations or visual aids from the lab to be easily transported to a lecture class.
The three large lecture halls in Crawford Hall are fully equipped with rear-view projection, internet access, audio and video access, and the technology required for computer-assisted instruction. Many of the smaller classrooms are port- and projector-ready in addition to possessing a document camera and the more traditional overhead projector.
Chemistry labs for all 100-level chemistry courses are located on the second floor of Crawford Hall. There is a prep room associated with and bridging these labs. Each lab is equipped with multiple deionized water faucets, fume hoods, electronic balances, a drying oven, chalk board, and wireless internet access. The labs share a refrigerator and ice making machine. The department has a large stockroom on the third floor for equipment and chemical storage.
The organic chemistry lab is located on the third floor. It too is equipped with fume hoods, deionized water, electronic balances, a chalk board, and wireless internet access. A prep room equipped with a fume hood and storage area for chemicals and equipment is attached to the lab. There are multiple melting point and refractometry stations as well as stations for chromatography and spectroscopy.
Outside the organic lab in an adjacent corridor an entire wall is covered with chalk boards for students to practice reaction mechanisms under instructor supervision. In another adjacent corridor is a chemistry conference room, with ports to the internet and college computer system as well as reference texts, where students can congregate and work in a supportive environment.
