PHYS 157 - Univ Physics I (Mechanics)
A calculus-based introduction to mechanics, this course emphasizes the study of motion of particles and of the forces responsible for such motion. Topics include dimensional analysis, vector analysis, rectilinear motion and motion in two and three dimensions, Newton’s Law of Motion, universal gravitation, and simple harmonic motion. Co-requisite: MATH 161 or equivalent 4 credits (3 lecture hours, 3 laboratory hours), fall semester These credits count toward the Math and/or Science (List B) requirements for graduation.
