Course Description
Healthcare Policy Issues TrendCurrent health care issues, trends, policies, and politics are investigated and analyzed, within the context of the program’s five core concepts – patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, nursing informatics, leadership and professionalism Students will correlate socio-economic-political trends and policies to issues in professional nursing practice and explore appropriate, effective strategies for political activism in professional nursing practice. Integration of knowledge will be demonstrated through a service learning project. This is an online course with enhanced electronic communications requiring Blackboard; Adobe Connect, with webcam & USB headset; Microsoft Office [WORD, PowerPoint and Excel 2010 or higher] and the Internet. Prerequisite: NURS 310 with a C+ or better 3 credits (3 lecture hours) spring semester
