Life after Returning to Campus

Student Activities

Will there be events on campus? What procedures must be followed? 

Student Government Organization (SGO), Campus Activities Board (CAB) and various SUNY Morrisville clubs and organizations will all host events this year. Stay tuned for more information as their plans develop. 
 
The SGO Assembly will continue to meet weekly to address students' concerns and needs throughout the semester. SGO also will hold elections with voting on raising the student activities fee and the SGO Awards, hold budget hearings for the clubs and organizations and other events throughout the semester.   
 
CAB has planned numerous virtual events for the spring, including esports competitions, virtual-guided paintings, performers, gameshows, trivia contests, educational and much more. CAB also will hold virtual meetings each week. Any live CAB events held this spring will follow all state and college guidelines.   

CAB also will be offering guided healthy meal preparation programs with a nutritionist, with all meals able to be cooked using a microwave in a residence hall room. Students will be able to sign up in advance and have prepackaged kits ready for these programs.   

CAB is collaborating with other SUNY campuses on educational programming on anti-racism, inclusion, women’s history, sex trafficking and other topics throughout the semester. CAB also has been in contact with all other SUNY campuses about sponsoring a SUNY-wide virtual concert that will connect students from all SUNY campuses. Additionally, CAB will be sponsoring movie streaming through our partner Swank Motion Pictures portal, which will provide free movies during most weekends of the semester.   

Check your Morrisville email and CAB, SGO and club/organization social media platforms for event and meeting details. All are welcome to join SGO, CAB or all the other clubs/organizations.   

 

Athletics

SUNY Morrisville Athletics will continue to follow NCAA and New York State guidance, and updates to participation will be made in accordance with any changes made by each organization.  

All student-athletes will participate in two campus-administered COVID-19 tests prior to starting practice for the Spring 2021 semester. The first test will be administered as students return to campus, and the Athletics Department will conduct a second round of testing on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021. Team practices will then be allowed to begin as soon as the results of this test have been confirmed.  

For team practices, student-athletes are permitted to hold team workout sessions in groups of 10 or fewer, as recommended by NCAA guidelines. 

Following New York State and NCAA guidance, outdoor workouts are of the utmost importance to minimize risk of spreading COVID-19 and will be held whenever possible. 

In accordance with campus cleaning protocols, locker room use will be prohibited.
