Student learning on a tablet

Your path to shaping lives starts here.

The SUNY Morrisville liberal arts & sciences: teacher education transfer — childhood, early childhood and adolescence degree programs will help you prepare for a career as a grade-school teacher, while giving you several opportunities to shape your path.

Your journey first begins by choosing which grade level you desire to make a difference: early childhood (birth through grade 2); childhood (grades 1-6); or adolescence education (grades 7-12).

You next choose in which subject concentration you want to specialize. English, history or social studies will place you in the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree program; math, biology or chemistry will enter you into the Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program.

Your courses will then focus on your chosen specialization, while also featuring a variety of general education classes along with the option to learn about either child or adolescent development.

You also will receive immediate hands-on experience through 40 hours of guided fieldwork in a local school that begins during your first semester in the program.

Whichever associate degree you earn, you will have completed your first two years of teacher education and can seamlessly transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in education.
